Without your volunteer support, we cannot fulfill our mission to develop a greater awareness of and appreciation for the unique natural systems of Southwest Florida and to foster an understanding of earth and space sciences. Aside from the satisfaction of knowing your support contributes to our mission, we hope you find our facilities and programs interesting and informative.


 

Become a Volunteer and give back to your community, while helping to preserve and protect Calusa's wildlife!

Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:

* Helping Calusa's staff with our:

  • General Mammals
  • Birds of Prey
  • Insects/Lizards
  • Turtles/Tortoises
  • Farm Animals
  • Reptiles
  • Fresh Water Fish
  • Salt Water Fish
  • Brackish Tank
* Greeting visitors and providing an introduction of daily activities

* Leading group nature walks and programs if interested

* Pruning vegetation and landscaping

* Repairing and maintaining exhibits

* Assisting with telescope viewing and other astronomy programs

* Helping with clerical and general office tasks

* Speaking to community groups about the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium

If you're looking for a worthwhile way to spend a few hours each week, this is the place for you! We'll provide training, a cup of coffee in the morning, a great group of people to team up with, and a chance to share in the excitement of helping families learn about the natural world!
