Show Descriptions

Skies Over Southwest Florida is a live presentation about the night sky. Audiences learn about the moon, planets, stars, and other celestial objects visible in the evening sky each week.

The Planets is a new program, narrated by Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway of Star Trek: Voyager), that looks at the planets in our Solar System and reveals what is currently known about them.

Hubble’s Great Galaxies:  The Hubble Space Telescope has taken magnificent images of many of the galaxies in our universe over the past 18 years.  This presentation will showcase some of these beautiful galactic images as well as explain the different types of galaxy structures, galactic distances, and how galaxies interact.   We will also take a tour of the current night sky constellations and planets.

Solar Express: Light, heat, and energy arrives from the Sun to the Earth in just eight minutes.  Our Sun, the closest star to Earth, is a dynamo of activity.  This program will feature our Sun and explain how it rotates, creates its energy, has tremendous magnetic activity, drives the Earth’s weather systems, and is easy to observe with proper precautions and equipment.  We will also take a tour of the current sun-less night sky and find out which constellations and planets are visible for viewing. This live sky talk is given by Astronomy Specialist and NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Carol Stewart.

More Than Meets the Eye compares the naked-eye views from our backyard with observatory photos and spacecraft images.

Join Sam Snork and his assistant in The Planet Patrol: Solar System Stakeout as they cruise for clues, look for leads, and use the latest in crime-solving equipment to investigate the planets in our Solar System and find out what makes the Earth so special.

Professor Patches is a magician who was recently voted “Best Children’s Entertainer” by Neopolitan Family Magazine.  His 40-minute show is perfect for children ages 3 to 8, though adults will laugh and be amazed as well.
